Kids learn to be entrepreneurs through plannig, starting their own first business: a lemonade stand. Lemonade Day Austin, will be held on Sunday, May 4 all over the city. It is a free, fun, educational event for kids of al ages.

Registration for Lemonade Day Austin is free, easy, and can be completed online in less than five minutes at austin.lemonadeday.org. Parents or other adults can register their children individually online, or teachers and program leaders can register entire groups of kids with the group registration form. Each kid who registers online will receive a free backpack and Entrepreneur Workbook mailed to their door that teaches them the 14 lessons of Lemonade Day including creating budgets, setting profit-making goals, serving customers, repaying investors, and giving back to the community.

Mentorship Program: Get paired with an older child with lemonade stand experience who can offer advice on best practices and keys to success.

MyBus1ness Entrepreneur Certification Program: open to those that have “graduated” to a new level of entrepreneurship. Open for students between the ages of 13 and 19 the Entrepreneurs Foundation of Central Texas, along with Capital Factory will launch this program.The certification program starts with a guided set of questions that asks students about their business. As students complete their plans, some of Austin’s top entrepreneurs will provide feedback, criticism, and guidance. Students who qualify will become certified as entrepreneurs, and some will be chosen to receive additional assistance, including mentoring and inclusion to Capital Factory, known as “the entrepreneurial center of gravity in Austin.”Becoming certified as an entrepreneur can help students demonstrate their competence and ambition to future employers and to colleges and universities.

To get started, interested students can go to www.mybus1ness.org to learn more and to apply for the program. After applying, students will receive a username and password and will have six weeks to complete the questions for certification.
