Typhoon Texas Austin

Macaroni Kid Round Rock - Pflugerville Review

By Amy Local MacKid Mom June 2, 2017

Our family had a great time exploring Typhoon Texas Austin on Saturday which was their first full day open. My girls ages 9, 7 and 5 have seen the park many times and asked to go but this was our first visit.

At the top of their list was the Lazy-T River which was a nice start to the day. It was only 3 feet deep which was great since our girls could opt to ride in the provided tubes or swim freely along the way. After this was the can’t miss Gully Washer. This is for kids of all ages. There is no way to not get wet as you climb through all the levels on your pursuit for the 7 different water slides. Some slides are open and some are closed but they are all perfect for kids (and adults). We then headed over to Tidal Wave Bay where the kids were amazed that the water could be like an ocean and then turn off and be like a pool. Life jackets are available for free.

Of course after all the activities we needed a snack so we had the yummy fish and chips, a funnel cake and purchased a souvenir Typhoon Texas cup which allowed for discounted refills. There were plenty of shaded spots to eat and lounge around the wave pool and throughout the park. There are even cabanas that can be rented.

Another favorite spot for the girls was in Howdy Hollow where the girls tested their skills by trying to get across the lily pads and logs while using the net above their heads.

The two older girls were scared but ready to try the bigger slides. At The Snake Pit they were willing to try The Diamond Back which was an open slide and they loved it but weren’t ready to try the other two tunnels since they were completely closed.

We then headed to our last stop, the tube slides. They were excited about these because you could ride single or double. Unfortunately they still haven’t invented a pulley or conveyer belt system, so after making my way up the stairs with the double raft 6 times each of the two older girls was able to ride each of the Bronco, Boar and Mutton Buster slides.

A few more can’t miss attractions are the Family Adventure Trail and The Challenge Course. We didn’t try these but they are included in your ticket price! These two attractions are only open during certain hours and have height, weight and clothing restrictions that you should check out before planning your trip. We did get to see a few people do The Zip Line Tour which is an extra charge.

My husband and I were very impressed with the amount of life guards, the layout of the park but mostly the customer service. We had a lifeguard and a manager at different times ask us about our time at the park and if there was anything they could do to make it better. Overall we had a great adventure and my girls are already planning their next trip!

The park is open daily for the Summer beginning June 2nd.
